Describe the main tasks and roles that you perform in your position.
Indiana INTERNnet
has three target audiences: students, educators and employers. I focus more on the student and educator side of things. I spend a lot of time interacting with students at career fairs. I also do a lot of the day-to-day web site cleanup and customer service related to the web site.

What are some of the ways that you generate publicity and raise awareness for Indiana INTERNnet?
Career fairs are a big way for us to get the word out. We are also trying to continually increase our social media presence by posting individual positions as they come through. Before, we were sharing more general information. But we try to now post a few specific positions each day. Other marketing efforts have included some limited billboards this year.

What are some of the major projects you’re working on?
We’ve started preparations for the IMPACT Awards. Nomination forms will be online this year, and we will work to get even more nominees and hopefully increase overall participation.

The awards luncheon each February recognizes interns who finished their internships the year prior. We also honor a career development professional and leading internship-providing organizations. I work closely with Katie Coffin (programs assistant) on the logistics, such as dealing with all the nominations, communications and marketing, as well as the event coordination.

Since you’re getting married in September, what has been your favorite part of planning the wedding?
I love photography and pictures, so my favorite part was meeting with the photographer, looking through his books and telling him what kind of stuff I liked. I even told him, “You’re the one I’m most looking forward to meeting with because I love pictures!”

Who is one person that you would love to have dinner with?
Bob Goff. He wrote the book, Love Does. I recently heard him speak, and he has done a lot of work overseas where he started a non-profit organization that helps to fight for human rights and improve education.

What is a phobia of yours?
I hate flying in airplanes! I have an extreme fear of flying.

Favorite movie: The Blind Side
Favorite TV show: Anything on HGTV!
Favorite restaurant: Joseph Decuis in Roanoke, Indiana. It’s a farm-to-fork restaurant. My dad farms organically, so I have an interest in restaurants that are locally sourcing natural and organic products.
Favorite college team: Purdue Boilermakers
