Can you describe the main roles/tasks you perform in your job?
I’m the primary contact for the media requests we get. Additionally, I produce most of our public policy-oriented communications and work closely with the lobbying team on those. I do quite a bit of writing, which also includes some press releases, radio and video scripts, letters to the editor/guest columns and features for BizVoice magazine.
What’s the most challenging part of your job? What’s the most rewarding?
I would say the multi-tasking and juggling things coming from all corners. But then there’s always a good feeling of accomplishment when a major project is completed or your plate clears during a hectic time.
What are some of your best memories you’ve had at the Chamber?
On the actual work side, it’s probably some of the interviews and then stories I’ve done for BizVoice: Terry Bradshaw, Gen. Stan McChrystal and some of our state’s government and business leaders. I’ve also enjoyed supporting our government affairs team on some of our major legislative efforts like right-to-work.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love going to concerts and sporting events – particularly to see the Indianapolis Colts or watch Roger Federer play tennis. I also like to get together with friends or let my 12-year-old nephew “terrorize” me.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
It would be the ability to instantly beam myself all over the world. I love the end result of traveling, but getting there can be so tiring.
Favorite TV show – Survivor
Favorite author – Agatha Christie
Favorite singer/band – Keith Urban. I also really love Queen’s music and will be seeing Queen tour with Adam Lambert this summer.
Favorite food – Cheesecake
Favorite vacation spot – I’m not sure I’ve found it yet. I love Lake Placid, New York in the winter; it’s like a postcard and I have been there many times. Lots of other places in the U.S. and a few in Europe I’ve enjoyed, too. But two places I really want to visit and probably would jump to the top of my list of favorites are Hawaii and Italy.
