“It was a piece of cake.”
That’s how Kim Borges describes a free benefit that allows members to post press releases on the Chamber’s web site.
She was eager to spread the word about Regions’ annual Riding Forward® scholarship contest, which honors Black History Month. Students write an essay (up to 500 words) about an African American who inspired them. High school seniors can receive a $5,000 scholarship; college freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible for a $3,500 scholarship. Regions chooses two winners in each of the 16 states where it operates.
“We’re so excited that $8,500 in scholarship funds will be allocated in Indiana,” Borges declares. “(We thought), ‘What are additional ways for us to really get the message out?’ And your web site came to mind.
“It’s a valuable resource to leverage.”
Regions Bank is a subsidiary of Regions Financial Corporation, one of the nation’s largest full-service providers of consumer and commercial banking, wealth management, mortgage, and insurance products and services. In Indiana, it has 60 branches and approximately 552 full-time equivalent associates.
Borges, vice president and area marketing manager for Indiana, also praises the Chamber’s Business Research Center for providing useful market data research as the company developed its strategic plan.
“She (the executive assistant who sought the information on behalf of Regions’ Indiana area president) shared that it was a very helpful resource,” Borges recalls. “She said the research was on point and very thorough. She loved that. It was exactly what she had requested.”
