(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Three September workshops hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce will offer opportunities to learn more about various aspects of human resources, including the important topics of employee benefits, supervising and managing people, plus a new program for fiduciary training.

Event details include:

  • 2013 Employee Benefits Seminar, September 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Changes have occurred at the federal level to FLSA, HIPAA, Medicare and more. These changes will affect how you do business. Seminar attendees will learn about the changes and how to avoid costly fines and penalties for those who do not comply. The seminar is presented by Ogletree Deakins and counts as one credit towards the completion of the Human Resource Specialists Certificate. Cost: $299 for Indiana Chamber members; $329 for non-members.
  • Supervising and Managing People Workshop, September 19-20, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Presented by Comprehensive Performance Systems, this two-day workshop covers the role of a successful manager, keys to improving communication, being a more effective leader, developing a personal plan for success, techniques for motivating people and much more. Cost: $599 for Indiana Chamber members; $699 for non-members.
  • Fiduciary Training Seminar, September 26, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This new seminar will be divided into three sessions that will discuss the general fiduciary overview, review of procedural duties and current industry topics. Among the agenda items: the background of fiduciary rules, prohibited transactions and conflicts of interest, trends with agency audits and reporting and disclosure requirements. The seminar is presented by Barnes & Thornburg LLP and ProCourse Fiduciary Advisors. Cost: $199 for Indiana Chamber members; $229 for non-members.
